'Sans Gill'
Alongside the Methodist Church I shot and produced this film about Eric Gill.
Gill "was an English sculptor, letter cutter, typeface designer, and printmaker. Although the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography describes Gill as "the greatest artist-craftsman of the twentieth century: a letter-cutter and type designer of genius", he is also a figure of considerable controversy following the revelations of his sexual abuse of two of his daughters and of his pet dog." The Methodist Church owned a piece of his work in their art collection and worked to reconcile this. In consultation with the Methodist Survivors Advisory Group they exhibited the artwork alongside diary entries and artefacts belonging to Gill's 2 youngest daughters, Betty and Petra. Placing the voice of survivors at the centre of the story and showing how despite their father Betty and Petra became healthy and happy women.
